Baptism, often called 'christening' is the start of a person's journey of faith, it is a one-time event that sparks a seed of faith in a child, or cements a more mature faith in an adult. Baptism is a sacrament, a sacred moment, where a person is fully welcomed as a Christian into God's family. As children, this involves having trusted Godparents, who have walked through baptism and Christian faith themselves, and can support and pray for your child as they grow up. As an adult, baptism can be a personal declaration of faith, and you may wish to choose friends to stand alongside you as 'sponsors' in the place of godparents. Adults can be baptised in the font or by full immersion (in a pool, sea or river). Both styles have the same spiritual significance.
Confirmation is when we take responsibility for the faith we first stepped into at our Baptism/Christening. It can also be part of an adult baptism.
Our next Confirmation and First Holy Communion Service will be on Sunday 21st July at 11am. Please use the link to sign up as a candidate, or to sign up a child or relative.
